#87 has become one of those hockey numbers that are hard to imagine being worn by any player except one.

#99 is Wayne Gretzky’s.

#97 may now be Connor McDavid’s.

#66 should be Mario Lemieux’s according to a lot of people not named Josh Ho-Sang.

#87 is definitely Sidney Crosby’s. And now, in Rimouski, it’s officially his.

On Friday, Sidney Crosby had his jersey officially retired by the team. What many thought was overdue was definitely eventually going to happen.

Before the game, the entire Oceanic team dressed up in the #87 for the last time in team history.

As it turns out, it wasn’t just Rimouski that would be without a #87 on the ice, it was the entire QMJHL.

Classy move from the league for one of their most successful products.
