David Ortiz was such a legendary figure in the Boston sports scene that the Springfield Thundebirds of the AHL are going to honour Big Papi on a special night dedicated to the Red Sox slugger on Saturday, November 11th.

VIP package holders will be invited to a meet-and-greet that will include a photo op with the Red Sox icon. He’ll be dropping the puck in a ceremonial pre-game faceoff, and will be down at ice level throughout the game interacting with fans.

Those attending the game will receive a jumbo sized card of Ortiz commemorating the game. The Thunderbirds will be wearing custom Red Sox designed jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game, and they're pretty darn cool.

Bubbleheads Ortiz rocking the custom jersey will be made and given out prior to a game on the 17th of February.

Big Papi, who helped the Red Sox sellout Fenway, can add selling out a minor league hockey game to his resume as the Florida Panthers affiliate announced that there are no more tickets available for the game, but if you live in the Massachusetts area, make sure to grab a ticket to the game in February so you can get one of those bobbleheads.

Ortiz will have the Red Sox 2013 World Series trophy on hand with him.
