On Tuesday, the Edmonton Oilers officially announced the hiring of Ken Holland as the their new General Manager and President of Hockey Operations.  Holland spent 36 seasons in Detroit and was part of 4 Stanley Cup wins.

Holland now has the tall and daunting task of returning the Oilers to glory, but if there's one person you'd bet on to turn things around, it would probably be Holland.  We imagine it was difficult for Holland to leave Detroit and after the announcement was made, Steve Yzerman had a classy message for him.

Red Wings owner Christopher Ilitch also released a statement in which he congratulated and thanked Holland.

We wish Holland the best of luck in Edmonton because we want nothing more than to see Connor McDavid playing playoff hockey.
