Team USA looked like one of the best teams in the tournament this year, but they were up against the team that probably looked best on paper coming into the tournament.

Even with all of the talent loaded onto the Sweden squad, USA looked in control of the game yesterday until one point in the second period that seemed to shift the momentum of the game. Casey Mittelstadt was skating with the puck alongside two of his teammates beside him and ultimately failed to score on the opportunity.

Mittelstadt had been USAโ€™s go-to player, so we doubt anyone had any issue with him taking the show, but this particular screenshot blew up with a caption explaining how absurd the outcome was.

The play doesnโ€™t look nearly as bad when you watch it live, but the skaters just appeared to be a little too close together to execute a perfect 3-on-0. This seemed to be the turning point in the game, something the Mittelstadt himself confirmed after the game.
