The Carolina Hurricanes are getting revenge on the Montreal Canadiens with an offer sheet and it’s hilarious

On Saturday, the Carolina Hurricanes signed an offer sheet with Montreal Canadiens centre Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The Canes agreement would see Kokaniemi make $6.1M on a one year deal, and $20 on a signing bonus. Montreal has seven days to match the offer.

Simple, right? Well there’s much more to it than you think.

Listen, the Canes have been holding a grudge for two years and are finally getting their revenge. Canes GM Don Waddell and Habs GM Marc Bergevin are officially at war.

In 2019, the Canadiens sent an offer sheet to Sebastian Aho, but as you know, the Canes matched it. It’s safe to say that Waddell didn’t like that attempt. Following the announcement on Saturday, Waddell came out with an almost identical statement that Bergevin made in 2019.

It doesn’t stop there! Waddell offered Kokaniemi a $20 signing bonus. Aho wears number 20 on his jersey. Coincidence? I think not.

The Canes are next level trolling!

Waddell took petty to another level and we are here for it.
