Winning a NBA championship probably earns you some cred in your hometown, right? The city of Rockford, Illinois has only produced a few NBA players in its history, and certainly never any champions — until Fred VanVleet came along as a key contributor to the Raptors’ 2019 chip.

The city of Rockford bestowed its ultimate honour, a key to the city, upon FVV, and the city showed out to support their hometown hero. We’re being serious — they threw a whole parade for FVV, and the streets were PACKED.

Well, that’s definitely impressive. Guess it pays to make it from a city not known for its basketball exports, if this is the kind of turnout you’re going to get.

Seriously, Rockford loves FVV. They even had their own Jurassic Park watching party for Raptors playoffs games, just so that the city could watch Finals Freddy! That’s awesome.
