Little known fact: Kenan Thompson, of Saturday Night Live fame, was once a member of the Mighty Ducks! He played a supporting role in the second and third Mighty Ducks films, as Russ Tyler.

Thompson was present when some of his fellow actors from the original trilogy reunited in a New York ice rink. For the first time in a long time, the Mighty Ducks took to the ice. (Warning: Nostalgia!)

It appears this little get-together was organized by the Anaheim Ducks, who later invited the cast of the Mighty Ducks to their road game against the New York Islanders. They also teased “other fun projects” with the Mighty Ducks, which probably explains the hockey gear in some of the photos above — it’ll be something to look forward to.

In their 25th year in the NHL, the Ducks appear to be embracing their Mighty Ducks roots this season, which fans certainly appreciate — their third jerseys make fantastic use of the original imagery. The timing may be just right, too, if a potential TV reboot of the series is to launch any time soon.
