Kawhi Leonard made his decision to leave the Toronto Raptors and Canada, but we’re not seeing the normal reaction that’s expected when a top free agent leaves.

We’ve come to expect jersey burning and people slandering players’ names in any way they can (LeBron James, John Tavares), but for the majority of Raptors fans, that clearly isn’t how they feel. It’s definitely a different situation than most, because he is leaving after winning a championship with the team, so it’s hard to really be upset.

That’s why Canadians just want to say #ThankYouKawhi.

Again, it’s a pretty unique situation.

This is the bet that Masai Ujiri made when he traded DeMar DeRozan at the beginning of the season. Kawhi Leonard never asked to go to Toronto and there were always rumours that he wanted to play in Los Angeles. Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has also been hanging around the Raptors all season long, so what we’re trying to say is that this hasn’t caught anyone totally off guard.

The Raptors got their Championship and that seems to be enough for most fans.
