The Florida Panthers were playing with heavy hearts tonight as they participated in just their second game since the latest Florida school shooting. On Wednesday afternoon, 17 students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School lost their lives after a former student opened fire in the building. The Panthers showed their support for the victims by paying a moment of silence ahead of their road game against the Vancouver Canucks.

On Saturday night, the team continued to show their support by rocking a patch on their jerseys. The addition includes the initials ‘MSD’ and was placed under the team’s alternative logo on the right sleeve. The team also had stickers of the school’s Eagles logo placed behind their left ear.

The Panthers haven’t been the only athletes to show their support for the school and its victims. Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Shayne Gostisbehere also wore a sticker on his helmet which read ‘MSD Strong.’Gostisbhere attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for two years before entering the NHL.

Since the attack, the Panthers have won both games on their Western Conference swing. They will look to continue their emotional streak against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night.
