The Pittsburgh Penguins haven’t been around as long as some other NHL teams, but they can rival just about anyone in their breadth of their vintage jersey options and they have dipped into it again.

We’ve already seen the Penguins return to a classic set of jerseys for their home uniforms and now they’re adding another as their third jersey. It’s definitely one of the riskier jerseys we’ve ever seen them wear, and even moreso when you realize that they’re wearing gold helmets with the jersey.

The Pens described the jersey as a design that "incorporates elements from the popular 2017 Stadium Series uniform while acknowledging the heritage of gold jerseys worn by Mario Lemieux and the Penguins in the 1980s."

It’s not our favourite of the alternates released this year, but it’s not our least favourite either. Let us know your thoughts on the new jersey @BarDown.
