Johnny Bower was one of the most well-liked and well respected players to ever wear an NHL sweater and the Toronto Maple Leafs will honour him tonight in warm ups.

The Maple Leafs retired a series of jersey numbers at the beginning of their 2016-17 season, including Bower’s number 1 (Also worn by Turk Broda). So, you won’t see another Maple Leaf wear that number, except for tonight. The Leafs came out on the ice in number one jerseys to honour the late Leafs goaltender.

That wasn’t all though.

Like they did with Bill Barilko’s jersey when Gord Downie passed away, they’ve lowered Bower’s banner halfway. They’ll probably also have some kind of video tribute during the game.
