Since the United Center, like other sports arenas all over, is currently out of use during the pandemic, the home of the Chicago Blackhawks and Bulls is being repurposed to support the community.

The arena is going to be used to assist the Greater Chicago Food Depository with food storage, storing almost 800,000 pounds of food. If you’ve ever wanted to see an ice rink full of non-perishable foods, buddy, now is your chance.

It’s great to see the United Center finding a way to use their means to support the community, and it’s obviously all hands on deck right now.

Throughout the sports world, we’ve seen all kinds of sports organizations and individuals give back, and the United Center isn’t the only arena to loan out their physical space — the Washington Redskins' FedExField has also converted their parking lot into a coronavirus screening site.
