If you haven’t heard by now, Patrick Marleau is one game away from setting the NHL record for most games ever played.

The Sharks failed to pick up the win on Marleau’s special night, but after the game the Wild showed their opponent nothing but respect as members of the team lined up to congratulate Marleau for hitting the impressive mark.

The Wild also displayed Marleau’s accomplishment on the jumbotron and was greeted with applause and a standing ovation from the fans in attendance.

The 41-year-old Marleau tied Gordie Howe’s record that’s been held since November 26, 1961 when Howe overtook Ted Lindsay and became the first player to ever play in 1,000 NHL regular season games.

Marleau will also become the first player from the NHL, NFL, NBA or MLB to dethrone an all-time regular season games played leader in more than 16 years on Monday night.
