For every awful, negative, and unexpected thing that happened in 2020, there were also some positive points.

It was a year for change. For the first time in recent memory, people were forced to stop. When they finally stopped, they realized there was a whole lot going on in the world that just wasn’t right. So they tried whatever they could to change them.

Social change happened at a rapid pace this year, and the Black Lives Matter movement came to the forefront. One of the groups that helped push this movement since its earliest days are the women of the WNBA, so it’s only fitting that one of the most shining aspects of 2020 is what the year did for women’s sports.

This was the year that women’s sports were thrust into the spotlight after years of  bubbling just below a full boil, and the hype that surrounded the WNBA bubble played a big part in that movement. The orange WNBA hoodies became an iconic symbol across sports, and one of the places they were worn the most was actually in the NBA bubble by the Association’s biggest stars. The league got a nod for the symbol it created recently, and won the  Sports Business Journal's Best Fashion Statement of 2020, and we can’t imagine a more deserving piece.

Women’s sports can’t be ignored for any longer, and if you needed any more signs to get on board, this is it.
