It looks like there may be be more to Carlos Correa’s comments regarding Jose Altuve not wanting to take his jersey off after hitting a walk-off in the ALCS.

If you can recall, Altuve made sure none of his teammates ripped his jersey off as he approached home plate to celebrate the Astros’ Game 7 win. Months later, speculation grew over Altuve keeping his uniform on to cover an illegal buzzer which assisted him while at the plate and although Altuve’s agent initially said his client kept his jersey on due to shyness, the 29-year-old’s teammate Carlos Correa said otherwise. According to Correa, Altuve was attempting to hide a tattoo that at the time looked “terrible”. Fans had their doubts, as no one had seen the ink… until now.

Photo evidence surfaced and there is in fact a tattoo on the second baseman’s collarbone. You can clearly see it on this zoomed in picture.

As you can see, there’s an ‘M’ just barely visible over his jersey. The tattoo reportedly says “Melanie”, the name of Altuve’s three-year-old daughter, over a heart.

So… you think he was trying to send a message or something?

The buzzer might not prove to be true but the sign-stealing certainly did. Both Altuve and teammate Alex Bregman apologized on behalf of the organization and were criticized for being both insincere and brief.

The whole thing could just be a cover-up by Correa but at this point, no one truly knows. Time will tell if more details leak in the future.
