Part of the fun of attending a ballgame, particularly when you sit close to the outfield, is to bring a glove and try your hand at catching a ball. And, look, if a ball gets hit your way, you’re making a play for it. That’s only logical.

The interference can cost batters, however, and Tony Kemp of the Houston Astros had what appeared to be a possible triple converted to a ground rule double after an Astros fan tried (and failed) to catch a fair ball. It likely cost the team a run, as Kemp would be left stranded on third base at the end of the inning.

The best part of this? The fan’s wife absolutely lost it.

It’s a moment of truth, right? What matters more to you: team success, even if just on a micro level, or bringing home a game ball? Sports fandom might dictate that the former matters more, but frankly, there’s a solid argument both ways.

Throw an angered spouse into the mix, however, and the equation might change.

No hard feelings, says Kemp. Likely because the Astros wound up winning 4-1 anyway.
