At the end of the day a professional baseball players job is to entertain a crowd. Winning comes first and foremost, but if you know that you're going to be called out on a play anyways, you might as well entertain, right?

Sunday, outfielder Eric Young Jr. of the Salt Lee Bees hit a grounder straight towards Tacoma Rainers infielder Gordon Beckham for what looked to be a routine out. But what followed was anything but routine, as Young Jr. turned the play into an Abbott & Costello act by deciding to back pedal all the way back to home in an attempt to get Beckham to chase him for the out. Beckham obliged...for some reason.

So apparently that's still a legal play since Young Jr. stayed within the basepath. Weird, but legal. Probably not all that effective, though, as Beckham easily could have just tossed the ball to first to record the out instead of chasing him. Although, as we said before, we think Young Jr. only had one thing on his mind in that situation...entertaining.
