When the Toronto Argonauts took on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Week 1 of the CFL season, there were a whole lot of new faces making their debut for the Boatmen. The general manager Jim Popp and head coach Marc Trestman were taking part in their first ever games in double blue, last year’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player Bear Woods was seeing his first action as an Argos’ linebacker, and S.J. Green was returning from an injury with a brand new team.
Green wanted to make sure the entire CFL knew he was back at full health once again, and made a dazzling, one-handed grab right out of the gates in the opening quarter of play to start his season.
Simoni Lawrence was covering Green on the play, and the Argos had a little fun at his expense on social media.
Lawrence is using the play as motivation, and we’re sure we’ll see that enthusiasm unleashed during the Labour Day Classic in Hamilton when these two teams meet again next.
And let’s be honest, it’s not that Simmy Hov had bad positioning on the receiver; it was simply a freak of nature catch by Green.
Like we said… catch of the year so far.
