Hockey interviews can tend to be a bit on the drier side, but one brave rink-side reporter decided to shake things up a bit with a midget-level player and it made for one of the stranger conversations you’ll likely ever see.

Many of you are probably familiar with the musician Dave Matthews, but did you know there was also one who plays hockey, too? Cape Breton Islanders forward Dave Matthews of the NSMMHL seems to be quite the hot commodity and made sure to take some time to chat with Mavs Gillis of Eastlink Community TV. Gillis took full advantage of the opportunity to cross-link Matthews with the musician and made sure to drop as many of his songs in the interview. Take a look at this strange but genius conversation.

For those unfamiliar with the Dave Matthews Band, some of their top hits include ‘Crash Into Me, #41, Ants Marching and Two Step, all of which were referenced by Gillis in the interview. Some pretty clever stuff, though you can imagine Matthews is probably pretty fed up with these kind of things at this point!

Matthews the hockey player is just 15 years old while the musician is 51 so it’s a bit past his time, but you can probably guess the two will be linked together for a long, long time. We have a feeling this won’t be the first time he has to go through one of these interviews either.
