Recognizing that a video that has over 1 billion views on YouTube is considered popular, songwriter Ian Biggs selected The Chainsmokers' smash hit 'Closer' for a parody song centered around his favourite team, the New England Patriots. All we can say is that the lyrics, the music, the performance, the video...it all just works.
As you likely noticed, the lyrics from the hook change multiple times throughout the song, referencing everything from the preferred temperature of champagne, to the Gronk's extra curricular activities. However, the best lyric came from the comments section, with one fan suggesting a line that would've made an already awesome video even more awesome.
