Jeremiah Masoli officially has sole possession of the key to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats car.

The 29-year-old has been on a tear this season but former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel was still lurking over his shoulder after the organization acquired him in the offseason. All of that was put to rest, though, after Hamilton traded the latter to the Montreal Alouettes in a package deal. When asked about the transaction, Masoli admitted that he was quite stunned.

Masoli on Manziel trade: Surprised, didn't see it coming

After Masoli posted 300 + yards passing in five straight games to start the season, it became clear that the TiCats would not be in need of Manziel’s services. He’ll now head to an Alouettes team that’s desperately in need of a spark on offence to save their season. Montreal is currently sitting in a tie for last place with the Toronto Argonauts.

Can @jmanziel2 turn around the Alouettes' 1-4 record? 🤔🔥

Time will tell if Manziel is able to win the Als’ starting job, but hopefully it happens sooner than later. Montreal is set to host Hamilton on Friday, August 3rd, in what’s sure to be high energy game at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium.
