Can we say we’re surprised? With the Tampa Bay Buccaners taking on the Washington Football Team in the wild card round, Tom Brady’s first touchdown of the game officially made him the oldest quarterback in NFL history to throw a TD in the playoffs.

Brady, at 43 years and 159 days old, beats out George Blanda at 43 years and 108 days. Honestly, over the last few years, it felt like a certainty that Brady would play for long enough to lock up this particular statistical accolade, and it finally became official on Saturday night.

Considering that Brady seems to have a few years left in the tank before he chooses to retire, he might be able to run up the score on this record, too. His longevity definitely doesn’t come into question here.

He’s in the first year of a two-year contract with the Bucs, and Ian Rapoport reports that he is expected to return for next season. In the past, he’s said that he wants to play at least until he’s 45 years old
