New England Patriots fans grew concerned this offseason that their prized star, quarterback Tom Brady, might not return for the upcoming campaign. Injury concerns involving the QB’s Achilles and shoulder led some fans to believe the one regarded by many as the GOAT might hang up his cleats. But to little surprise, the 40-year-old announced he will be returning for another season.

Let’s take a look at Brady’s life for one second. The guy has five Super Bowls, a famous wife, healthy children and earnings in the hundred millions. So why would an aging player agree to play through soreness at this stage of his career? Is it for another Super Bowl? Nope. Is it to pad his passing records? Double-nope. In fact, it’s the contrary. Brady hilariously revealed on Friday that his reasoning for coming back is to eclipse the 1,000 yards rushing mark.

The guy even made sure to call out future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson and rushing quarterback king Russell Wilson with hashtags #whereyouatAP and #watchandlearnruss.

Despite reaching numerous NFL milestones, Brady has never been regarded as a runner. If you need further proof, just take a look at his combine from the 2000 NFL Draft.

Brady currently sits at 968 yards on 558 attempts. After rushing for just 28 in 2017, time will tell if he can get it done in what might be his final season.

Knowing Tom, he’ll probably do it in dramatic fashion.
