The Winter Classic is fast approaching and while we have seen all of the jerseys and logos that will be used for the game, we were still waiting to see some of the goalie gear.

Goalies always get a little fancy for their outdoor gear, and with the team playing in Notre Dame, they had some special inspiration. Tuukka Rask seems to be especially inspired because he has fully embraced the Fighting Irish spirit.

He has a version of the logo painted onto his helmet for the New Year’s Day game.

This is going to be Rask’s third Winter Classic and he’s had some pretty epic masks for the other ones as well. He had a Fenway park mask and a Patriots themed mask, so we probably should have seen this one coming.

Now we’re just waiting to see the pads. We’re not sure they’ll be able to top Mrazek’s Hartford Whalers pads though.
