Entering the offseason, there were a number of teams that didn't have a captain heading into the 2018/19 season.

The Buffalo Sabres were one of those teams, but hockey fans everywhere had a strong feeling that it was only a matter of time before Jack Eichel was named captain.

One day before the Sabres season-opener at home against the Bruins, they announced that Eichel will wear the "C" as he was officially named the 19th captain in team history.

What a special moment for the 21-year-old.  From that video alone, you get a real sense of how close this Sabres team is and that while tough, it was an easy decision to give Eichel the "C."

Big things are expected from Eichel and the Sabres this year, but he's committed to turning the franchise around and if all goes according to plan, he'll be leading this team to success for years to come.
