Everyone remembers what it was like going to school on April Fool’s Day. You had to keep your head on a swivel at all times and needed to be as mentally fresh as possible so you weren’t fooled by any tricks. However, it turns out professional athletes also have to worry about the tricks when they show up to work for the day.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Jake Nerwinski and Corey Basso of TSN Radio Vancouver recently teamed up to pull off a fantastic April Fool’s Day prank on goalkeeper Stefan Marinović, which involved Basso calling him by the wrong name and much more during a sit down interview.

We’ve got to give Marinović some credit for not getting mad at Basso on the spot for calling him by the wrong name, but we give him major credit for not completely losing it on Basso after he said he’s a member of the Australian national team and not the New Zealand national team, considering Marinović hails from Auckland and not Australia and even mentioned at the end that he was ‘so mad’.

As for the TSN Radio Vancouver host, he did a fantastic job keeping a straight face during the interview while Nerwinski continued to toss random information and tidbits at him.
