Things haven’t been smooth sailing for Vegas Golden Knights forward William Karlsson.

The Swede is fresh off of a career best 43-goal season but he’s failed to find twine in six straight games to start the 2018-19 campaign. Karlsson shot at a ridiculous 23.4% last year so it’s unsurprising to see he hasn’t been able to keep up the same pace, but it is a bit head-scratching to see no goals to his name yet. ‘Wild Bill’ has remained positive, though, and said that he’s waiting for ‘the ketchup effect’ to kick in. You’re probably a bit confused by the term so here’s some clarity!

The following is an excerpt from the Las Vegas Review-Journal

“In Sweden, we call it the ketchup effect. It’s like when you bang on the bottom of the bottle and get nothing, but eventually once some comes out it all pours out. Hopefully, we can get some ketchup effect.”

Okay, so we’ve heard some pretty awesome hockey terms before. “Sauce, sieve, suitcase,” but ketchup effect? Think that one could catch on with a lot of hockey players in North America.

Karlsson isn’t the only Golden Knight who’s been having trouble scoring this season. Vegas ranks 27th in the league with just 10 total goals and have failed to score on the power play. Newly acquired forward Max Pacioretty has just one goal to his name in gold, so he could really use the whole ‘ketchup effect’ thing as well.

At the end of the day, Willie can go to sleep every night comfortably knowing that he has the best flow in hockey.
