After collapsing in the dugout during an April 20 game and being diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage, Chicago White Sox reliever Danny Farquhar was described as being “in the fight of his life” while requiring multiple surgeries. The hospital has since released him, but he’s still recovering and, quite understandably, will not pitch again for the White Sox this season.

Farquhar will, however, throw out the first pitch in front of fans at Guaranteed Rate Field in the White Sox’s June 1 game against the Milwaukee Brewers:

You can be sure that White Sox fans will be ecstatic to see Farquhar again, as well as his teammates. Although many of the particulars of his recovery remain in the air, the process has generally gone well for Farquhar, and his neurosurgeon tentatively expects him to be able to pitch again in coming seasons.

With this, of course, being bigger than baseball, you can expect that opposing players will also show Farquhar some love. When the White Sox visited the Chicago Cubs, their cross-town rivals discarded the usual antics to extend their best wishes to the recovering pitcher.
