Baker Mayfield doesn’t appear to regret his post-game comments about the officials after his Browns 32-28 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6.

The 2018 first overall pick was fined $12,500 for lashing out on the referees, most notably for a blindside block penalty called on Jarvis Landry that negated a four-yard catch on a 2nd & 13 play. Baker said he knew he was going to get fined when he made the comment, but reminded everyone that he’s entitled to his freedom of speech and that he'll be appealing the penalty. Here’s what he had to say:

The following is an excerpt from Cleveland.com:

“Well, one, I wouldn’t say it’s complaining when it’s blatantly obvious,’’ he said Wednesday. “I’d say that’s just stating facts. Freedom of speech I thought, but that’s OK, I get fined for it. It’s the league, that’s what they do. They fine you for some ridiculous things. That’s just how it is. There’s a reason that everybody is talking about it. It’s not just me.

“It goes for every team. We’re not going to get a lot of calls, and we know that, especially going into this week. There’s no time to worry about it. No time to stress about it. Just play our game.”

“it needs to be said. People need to be held accountable for their job. When it affects my job, it sucks because it’s not in my control.”

One person who can see eye-to-eye with Mayfield is his own teammate, Odell Beckham Jr.. The 26-year-old was recently fined $14K for wearing pants that didn’t cover his knees.

The Browns have lost two in a row and some decent coin in the process. They’ll look to right the ship Sunday afternoon against the Patriots in Foxborough.
