There’s an unwritten rule in hockey. If someone goes after your teammate, whether it’s on the ice or not, you need to stand up for him/her, regardless of the circumstances. And if there’s anyone who understands this rule better than anyone, apparently it’s Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand.

The 30-year-old has been particularly vocal on Twitter lately, mainly going after his teammate/good friend Torey Krug with a series of harmless jokes (mostly about both of their lack of size). But this time, Krug was the victim of a separate tweet and Marchand felt it was his duty to defend him. To the dismay of Marchand, Bruins Insider Joe Haggerty shared an article on Twitter questioning whether the Bruins are better without Krug (concussion) in the lineup, who’ve gone 2-1 and allowed 5 goals over their last three games since his injury. And surprise, surprise, that didn’t sit well with Marchand, who couldn’t help himself from calling out Haggerty.

He simply didn’t hold back.

Ouch. BruinsCLNS host Jimmy Murphy also had to chime in with a joke of his own (shocker, it was about size).

Haggerty didn’t let this one slide by and admitted that although he agrees with Marchand, he’s just “asking the questions” and doing his job. But… he also felt it was necessary to throw a small joke in on the forward.

Did he really think that was going to go by without a response? He probably would have been better off just saying nothing.

Speaking of that Pasta guy… he also got into with Marchand recently! Although their feud was a little more light-hearted.

Can we all just agree that everyone needs to stay away from chirping Marchand and any of his friends on Twitter? It’s not a road anyone should want to take.

(H/T Brad Marchand)
