Casey Smith had himself a game on Thursday night. 26 saves, a win, and to top it all off, he earned a shutout in a 5-0 dismantling of the Buffalo Sabres. So what was the real reason for his stellar performance? Did he get the right pregame meal in? Was his afternoon nap just right? Or was he simply in the zone?

Well, maybe, but his superstition seemed to be the key. Sorry* his stition.

DeSmith was interviewed after the W and found himself with an opportunity to drop one of Michael Scott’s (from The Office) all-time greatest lines. He took full advantage of what was given to him and delivered beautifully. The man isn’t superstitious okay? HE’S JUST STITIOUS!!!!

Fans were loving what they witnessed and couldn’t hold back on Twitter.

As it turns out, the 27-year-old is a massive fan of the show (surprise, surprise). He made sure to rock a logo on the top of his mask back in 2017 with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, which ultimately got quite a bit of love.

Pretty much everyone in sports seems to be on board 'The Office train'. Numerous teams across the Big Four sports leagues have recreated the iconic intro and some of them actually turned out pretty well!

It’s always nice to see an athlete make a good sitcom reference, especially when it comes from Michael Scott.
