DeMar DeRozan might no longer be a member of the Toronto Raptors, but that doesn’t mean he’s changed. The 29-year-old Compton, California native is still the same person he was during his stint in Toronto and his actions both on and off the court prove that.

This past week, the San Antonio Spurs shooting guard made a trip back to his hometown, where he helped 150 students get into the holiday spirit a little early.

DeRozan was back at Compton High where he surprised 150 students with a holiday party and sent them home with some swag packages. Included in the gift for each student was a $100 VISA gift card, a Nike cinch pack, a Spalding mini basketball, an autographed photo of himself, on top of the catered lunch and holiday cookies that were provided.

The four-time NBA All-Star was always out and about in Toronto every Christmas season handing out gifts to young fans and has always made sure to go back to where it all started, too. So, this season is no different for him as he was back at home helping out the local youth who are growing up in the same neighbourhood he grew up in, hoping to make any difference he can.
