An early-season slump is no joke. Of course, cold streaks are never any fun, but when a player opens the season with consecutive hitless games, that .000 batting average begins to get real leery.

How is Dexter Fowler of the St. Louis Cardinals, 0-for-13 through his first three games, dealing with his struggles? Like the rest of us, he’s just tweeting through it:

Believe it or not, this approach worked! After sending that tweet on Monday morning, Fowler proceeded to get a hit against the Milwaukee Brewers later in the day, raising his average to .056. Still an improvement!

Around the league, other players off to slow starts took note. Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Indians (0-for-12) and Josh Reddick of the Houston Astros (0-for-8) gave Fowler’s approach a try for themselves, so what we’re left with now is a bunch of tweets about getting hits.

At the time of writing, Ramirez remains hitless through the fifth inning of a game against the Los Angeles Angels, but Reddick was able to break out of his slump with a hit against the Baltimore Orioles earlier in the day. Hey, any of these guys would be envious if “I will get a hit.” finishes with a 2-for-3 line on the day!

In other news related to Dexter Fowler and Twitter, Fowler’s wife discovered the joys of hockey and... tweeted through it. What a time to be alive.
