Empty net goals tend to be the least exciting type of goals in hockey as they usually come off a player’s stick who dumped the puck the length of the ice, but when it comes off the goalie’s stick there’s a lot more flair to it.

In  a recent English Ice Hockey League game between the Whitley Warriors and the Sutton Sting, Warriors goalie Richie Lawson decided to take a shot at the empty net with his team leading 3-1 in the third period and he executed a perfect shot.

Lawson had nothing to lose on that attempt and it paid off for him as he picked up his first career goal.

Empty net goals are always that much better when they comes off the goalie’s stick.
