Isaiah Canaan did a very good job working his way back into the NBA this season, but his 2017-18 campaign might have come to an early end after suffering a gruesome injury on Wednesday night.

With time running out in the first quarter of Wednesday night’s tilt with the Dallas Mavericks, the 26-year-old guard went hard to the basket looking to end the opening frame with a few more points. Instead, he ended up coming down awkwardly on his ankle and it made for a very gruesome scene.

Similar to Gordon Hayward’s injury on opening night, players had a tough time looking at the injured Phoenix Suns guard and the entire arena went silent as fans, players and everyone else in attendance held their breath as they watched on.

The Suns initially ruled out Canaan with a left ankle fracture, but we’ll have to wait and see just how much damage was done during that freak accident.
