The protective netting behind home plate in baseball stadiums is there to protect fans from baseballs and bats that fly into the crowd at high speeds, but sometimes it’s easy to forget the netting it there when you see a foul ball come firing back towards you.

At Tuesday night’s game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals, Reds rookie sensation Aristides Aquino nearly connected on a pitch and fouled the ball back behind home plate. Unfortunately for one fan, she forgot all about the protective netting and lost most of her beer because of it.

It’s easy to laugh at the situation when you’re just watching the replay, but if you’re that fan or have ever been in that fan’s shoes before, you know that it’s very easy to forget about the protective netting when you see a ball fly backwards at more than 100mph.

It looks like she was able to save some of her beverage, but it’s a shame she lost any of it to begin with.
