Year after year, young athletes across North America are rewarded for their athletic abilities through scholarships. However, not every player currently playing on a college team was recruited by the school ahead of time and some ended up on the team as a walk-on.

While a good majority of the scholarships are handed out ahead of the season, walk-on players still have a chance to earn a scholarship through their play, the way they present themselves away from the field and the way they represent the school, and that’s what happened to Texas Tech defensive back Justus Parker on Monday afternoon.

During a team meeting, Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury changed Parker’s life with some help from members of the New England Patriots.

Former Texas Tech wide receiver Danny Amendola teamed up with Rob Gronkowski to surprise the college sophomore with a scholarship, and the entire team celebrated as if they had just been surprised with a scholarship of their very own.

It definitely doesn’t get any better than that.
