The Montreal Canadiens walked into the 2018-19 NHL season with very little in the way of expectations. As a result, they’ve been pretty pleased with how the season has gone thus far. In fact, if the season ended today, they’d be gearing up for a playoff showdown with another surprisingly successful team this year – the New York Islanders.

The success can be attributed to a lot of different factors, but one major element to their winning ways has been the success of their youngsters. Nobody stands out in that category quite as much as rookie Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

The Finnish forward recently had comparisons drawn to Jean Beliveau by none other than legendary coach Scotty Bowman. His highlight reel skill set was showcased during the Habs skills competition on Sunday, particularly one shootout goal that he slung into the mesh.

Not bad for a guy born in year 2000 (wow). While he may not pull this off in-game anytime soon, you can bet Habs fans are excited to see what he does pull.
