Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is having a year to remember as the 22-year-old is eyeing down the Triple Crown with the end of the regular season just two weeks away.

Vlad Jr. hit his 46th home run of the season on Friday night to put him back atop the league’s home run leaderboard and it moved him into a tie with Joe DiMaggio for the most home runs in a season by a player age 22 or younger.

The home run also bumped Guerrero Jr. ahead of Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench, who hit 45 home runs in 1970, and on Saturday afternoon the legendary catcher showed Vlad Jr. some love for his outstanding season and passing him on the leaderboard.

Bench’s 45 home runs in 1970 were the most home runs in a single-season by a catcher until this season, as it was recently tied by Salvador Perez; who is now just one away from becoming the new all-time single-season leader.
