We’ve seen hockey fans protest when their team goes through a rough stretch. In fact, we’ve seen fans take their jersey off and toss it right on the ice to protest the decisions their team is making. But one fan in the stands didn’t appear to be making any kind of protest, they simply pulled off a straight betrayal and thought they were getting away with it.

Unfortunately for this particular fan, the broadcast happened to be trained in on them to catch them red-handed in the act.

To set the scene, the Edmonton Oilers were down once again. This time, it was a 6-4 deficit in what would eventually be a 7-4 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. It is tough to attend an Oilers game as a fan only to watch the team, who has been frustratingly bad considering who they have wearing a C on his sweater, give up seven goals to a team KNOWN for their inability to score goals.

When the broadcast showed Rod Brind’Amour speaking to his team, the “fan” was spotted removing their Oilers jersey to reveal a ‘Canes shirt.

You notice how at no point in this article we mentioned that this fan was of a particular allegiance to the Oilers or the Hurricanes? That’s because we genuinely don’t know what to think.

Is this fan just so terrified of adversity that they decided they had to cover all their bases? Did they come to the determination that if the Oilers lost this game they would officially switch allegiances?

Believe it or not, it’s actually not the first time we’ve seen something like this.

Either way, maybe just choose a side and stick to it. It will be that much sweeter when things actually work out. Gotta support the team!
