The Carolina Hurricanes selected Martin Nečas with the 12th overall pick in the last year’s NHL Entry Draft, but they decided to send him back to the Czech Extraliga to help him to continue to develop.

The 19-year-old recorded nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 24 regular season games with HC Kometa Brno, but his nicest goal of the year came in his team’s recent playoff game against HC Skoda Plzen. With his team already up 2-0 in the third period, Nečas received the puck in the neutral zone and did the rest of the work by himself to put the cherry on top.

HC Kometa Brno continues to cruise through the postseason as they now lead their second round series 2-0 and remain undefeated with a 6-0 record.

The Hurricanes prospect has two goals and two assists for four points in his team’s six playoff games, and also recorded three goals and eight assists for 11 points in seven games at the past IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championship.
