Justin Verlander is one of the greatest pitchers to ever suit up for the Detroit Tigers.

During his 13 years with the organization, Verlander posted a 183-114 record to go along with a 3.49 ERA, 2,373 strikeouts in 2,511 innings of work and a World Series title. Although the 35-year-old has already played against his former team since joining the Houston Astros, he hasn’t played against them at Comerica Park. However, that all changed on Monday night.

Considering Verlander is one of the greatest players to ever suit up for the Tigers and gave the city and organization everything he had during his time there, the Tigers and their fans welcomed Verlander back with open arms and an incredible video tribute before the game that had him tearing up.

It ended up being a solid return for Verlander as he struck out 10 batters over seven innings of work to improve to 15-9 on the season.
