One year after five out of the seven Canadian NHL teams made playoffs, this year will feature just two. While it wasn’t expected that all Canadian teams make it, a few teams experienced season that punched way below their expectation.

The Edmonton Oilers, and their Art Ross Trophy winning superstar Connor McDavid, were considered one of the cup favourites coming into the season. The Ottawa Senators, coming off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance, also found themselves on the outside looking in. To add to the list of disappointing season, take a glance over to Montreal.

The Montreal Canadiens have hit a low point, with many bewildered by their bottoming-out finish despite having one of the best goalies in the league. While fans debate different reasons for the Habs’ down year, General Manager Marc Bergevin believes the team had a poor attitude, and that they were doomed from Day 1.

Bergevin went on to say “we were not in a situation [to win] from Day 1”

Bergevin did take responsibility for his own attitude, but whenever the blame is shifted to a non-hockey reason it’s opening a can of worms. Obviously fans on Twitter voiced some of their own opinions.
