The Toronto Blue Jays’ 2021 season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion on the final day of the season as both the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox pulled off wins in the 9th inning of their games to secure the two AL Wild Card spots, despite the Jays completely crushing the Baltimore Orioles 12-4 to conclude the year.

Boston ended up scoring five unanswered runs against the Washington Nationals, including the go-ahead two-run home run in the ninth inning, to grab the final spot, but one former Jay was really hoping for a Nationals comeback so Toronto would end up getting one final chance at a playoff spot.

Marcus Stroman was a fan favourite during his time in Toronto and he loved representing the city and the Blue Jays during his time with the organization, and clearly both the team and the city are still near and dear to Stroman’s heart considering he was cheering for them to get through to the tie-breaker.

The 2021 Blue Jays team brought fans a lot of joy, especially once they returned home to Toronto during the season, and they’re a team that Jays fans will always remember even though they won’t be heading to the postseason this year.
