Every so often, we see a moment in warm-ups that just kind of stick out. Not in a bad way, but they make us hockey fans scratch our heads and say “whatttttttt?!”

In comes New York Islanders forwards Mat Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier, who put their bizarre routine on full display last night ahead of their matchup against the Calgary Flames. Things looked normal at first, with the two players working their way through oncoming pucks to practice their stick-handling skills. But then it got a little weird when they performed a passing drill that basically looked like an NHL glitch.

Is anyone else a little dizzy after watching that?!

This was a weird one but at least it actually involved the two passing a puck. Unlike Tom Wilson and T.J. Oshie, who insist on just slashing each other in unwanted places instead. Honestly, how do players even come up with this stuff?

And then there are some pre-game moments that don’t even take place on the ice…

Barzal and Beauvillier’s weird passing sadly didn’t pay off, as each player was held off of the scoresheet in their team’s 4-2 loss. At least they gave fans something to remember, even if it was before the opening whistle.
