The NHL is still a week and a half away from puck drop but plenty of drama has unfolded so far in the preseason.

Apart from players sniping in their new threads, the Montreal Canadiens and Florida Panthers made headlines after Habs forward Max Domi suckered Aaron Ekblad in the face. Many in the hockey world believe the punishment didn’t fit the crime, as Domi was suspended for five preseason games and zero regular season contests. Domi had the chance to touch on the incident and admitted that his emotions simply got the best of him.

Domi on Ekblad punch: 'Wasn't trying to hurt him...emotions got the best of me'

The guy clearly feels bad about the incident, but that didn’t stop his old friend from voicing his thoughts to the media.  Ekblad didn’t hold back on the matter, saying “it’s dumb,” and he was “stupid for doing it.”

Can’t say we really blame him after seeing his shiner…

It’s pretty crazy to think that the punch occurred in Domi’s very first game with the Canadiens’ logo on his chest. He’s not exactly off to the best start with his new club, but fans can definitely expect their new forward to add some toughness to their lineup.
