Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are one of the most dangerous duos in the NHL.

Last season they finished as the top two scorers in the entire league and this year they’re at it again. Heading into Thursday night’s action, McDavid sits first in the league with 68 points and Draisaitl sits second with 61. The next closest player is Patrick Kane with 51 points.

In Edmonton’s win over the Sens on Wednesday night, the Oilers’ superstar duo accomplished something that hasn’t been done in 35 years as they became the first set of teammates to score 20 or more points against one team in the same season.

The last pair of teammates to achieve the feat was Wayne Gretzky (6-21—27) and Paul Coffey (9-11—20), who each put up 20+ points in eight games against the Los Angeles Kings in 1985-86.

Draisaitl heads into the final meeting of the season with the Sens with 10 goals and 11 assists against them, and he’s just the 6th player in NHL history to score 21 points or more against one team in a season (Wayne Gretzky did it six different times).

With one meeting left between the Oilers and Sens, McDavid needs just one more point to join that same list. He also heads into the final meeting with the 6th most points through 40 games since the 1995-96 season.

Imagine if McDavid and Draisaitl got to play the Sens nine times every year…
