With his contract signed and the business side out of the way, Mitch Marner is returning to the ice with the Leafs for training camp, and you can tell that he was a missed presence.

To kick off training camp, the Leafs are currently holding open practices in Newfoundland, and Marner got quite the reception from local fans as he returned to the ice — even stopping to take selfies with a couple young fans.

Isn’t it nice to have this guy back? There might have been some concern that this contract situation was going to linger into October, and you would certainly hate to have a repeat of William Nylander’s situation from last season.

Fortunately, the financials are all resolved now, and Marner is back “in front of the greatest hockey fans in the world.”

Mitch #Marner is happy to be staying put in Toronto. 👀
