Morgan Rielly doesn’t appear to feel bad for his old coach Randy Carlyle amidst his recent struggles.

Carlyle’s Ducks have been horrendous of late, dropping 15 of its last 17 games including a brutal 9-3 loss at the hands of the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night. Anaheim will try to right the ship on Monday night in a road game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, a team Carlyle coached from 2012-15. Rielly was asked about facing his former coach and the adversity his team's faced and he doesn’t seem to feel any sympathy for him. Why?

Because he's been there before.

It hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Rielly in Toronto despite the Leafs’ success this season. The 24-year-old missed the playoffs during his first three seasons in Toronto which included a 29-42-11 in the 2015-16 campaign. But hey- at least they got Auston Matthews? It’s been allllll uphill since then.

Carlyle’s still managing to stay positive during the Ducks’ decline. He had the nerve to call out TSN’s Mark Masters about having his shoes shined at the beginning of his media session… What a beauty!

The Ducks are remarkably still just three points out of the Western Conference’s final playoff spot and will look to close the gap at Scotiabank Arena. Just don’t expect Morgan Rielly or his teammates to show any mercy if things get out of hand!
