The NWSL’s Angel City FC is the newest team on the pro sports block, and if we’re being honest, they might already have one of the coolest team names in sports.
Their great name aside, Angel City FC also has the most star-studded ownership groups in sports. Boasting the names of Julie Foudy, Billie Jean King, Jennifer Garner, Ilana Kloss, Candace Parker, Lindsey Vonn, PK Subban, Cobi Jones, James Corden, Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, Lauren Holiday, Serena Williams, Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria, Jessica Chastain, Uzo Aduba, Kara Nortman, and more, this team should pan out to be a cultural phenomenon.
Natalie Portman, one of Angel City’s co-founders, joined the ESPNW Summit to speak on women’s sports, and the importance of giving these talented athletes a platform.
Women’s sports are on a meteoric rise, and the more they continue to be covered, the more they will continue to grow.
